Seven Summits! Yes, I did it! I made it!

15 years ago, when I made it to the top of Mount Everest, a dream was born to one day complete the Seven Summits, climbing the highest peak on each continent.

Mount Everest (Asia) became the first one of the seven and the year after Göran and I climbed Kilimanjaro (Africa) together and in 2002 we were looking at going to Denali. But then, after Görans's death, things changed dramatically. Climbing and the dream of the Seven Summits faded away and I decided to try and finish the Around America Adventure instead.

But for some time now I have felt the mountains calling and my dream of the Seven Summits started to reappear. And in May this year, I could not resist it anymore and I decided to try and catch my dream and complete the remaining five climbs I had left. So in June I went back to Kilimanjaro to acclimatize, reaching the top for the 8:th time, and then on the 12th of July I summited Denali (North America), 10th of August Elbrus (Europe), 27th of October Carstensz Pyramid (Oceania), 26th of November Aconcagua (South America), and now on the 15th of December, I made it to the top of Mt Vinson (Antarctica).

Can you believe it?! Well, I do not blame you if you can’t because I can hardly believe it myself! What a climbing comeback, after 12 years!

And not only did I fulfill a 15-year-old dream but I also managed to become the first Swedish (and Czech woman) to make the Seven Summits! Tjohoo!
